Gibson Custom SG Standard VOS Electric Guitar with Case

The Gibson Vintage Original Spec SG Standard Featuring an ultra-thin, two-horned body, the SG Series addressed two of what Ted McCarty saw as the major issues of the now-retired Les Paul body style: weight and limited access to the upper treble register. The new body shape of the SG Standard was dramatically lighter than the old Les Paul, and offered access to the entire fingerboard. The VOS version has "57 Classic humbuckers, a solid mahogany body and includes a Custom Shop case. All VOS model Gibsons are given an aged appearance by enduring unique staining, wet-sanding, and hand-rubbing processes. The result of these methods creates a visually stunning reflection of a well-cared for 40-year-old Gibson. Of course, the most famous of these guitars is the legendary Les Paul. In 2006 the Gibson Custom Shop released its Vintage Original Spec (VOS) series in honor of the instruments that have literally shaped the face of music today. The series consists of a 1956 Les Paul Gold Top; a "57 Les Paul Junior Singlecut; a "57 Gold Top in plain and darkback; "57 Customs in 2 and 3 pickup versions; "58 Junior Double Cut; "58 Plain Top; "59 Les Paul Sunburst reissue; "60 Les Paul Reissue; "60 Les Paul Specials in Single and Double Cut; an SG Standard Reissue; and an SG Custom 3 pickup Reissue. The production of these instruments is the culmination of 20 years of experience producing handmade Gibson Custom guitars. We primarily took on the challenge of re-creating the 3 most vital aspects of these legendary instruments: Look, Playability, and most of all Tone. In order to accurately reproduce the Look of vintage Gibsons, the Custom Shop uses a combination of faithful adherence to our history and proprietary new processes and inventions. The hardware is left to soak in a special solution that transforms a brand new pick-up cover into a gently used historic jewel. The plastic and binding are painstakingly hand aged to provide that warm yellowed look that takes decades to occur in nature. Vintage accurate wood fillers, anodized dies and a 100

Gibson Custom Custom Robby Krieger 1967 SG - Aged and Signed Aged Dark Heritage Cherry

Gibson Custom Custom Robby Krieger 1967 SG - Aged and Signed Aged Dark Heritage Cherry
$5,799.00

The Robby Krieger 1967 SG Aged Electric Guitar from Gibson Custom blends several features from some of Krieger's favorite SG's into one stunning new model. Made of traditional solid mahogany, the body of the Krieger SG is typical of the thin SG bodies from the mid 1960s, complete with traditional beveled edges and the distinct dual sharp cutaway horns that give players complete access to the guitar's full 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. The body is then finished in Krieger's personal favorite Aged Dark Heritage Cherry finish, which is very similar to the finish of his beloved 1967 SG Standard, and historically accurate right down to the tiniest scratches, dings and belt rash. The neck is also a typical SG one-piece mahogany neck, but with a hybrid neck profile modeled after the neck on a 1961 Gibson SG owned by a close friend and the neck on his personal '67 SG Standard.

In order to duplicate his signature sound Krieger chose a pair of Gibson's renowned '57 Classic humbucker pickups. Gibson's original "Patent Applied For" humbuckers of the mid- to late-1950s &mdash: some of the most sought after pickups in the world &mdash: were wound using imprecise machines, resulting in pickups with slightly different output and tone, and desirable to players who wanted to mix and match and explore a complete spectrum of tonal possibilities. The '57 Classic pickups are the result of Gibson's drive to capture and recreate this renowned characteristic. Krieger's signature sound comes through clearly in a warm, full tone with a balanced response, packing all the tremendous "PAF" humbucker crunch expected from a Gibson humbucker.

Everything else on the new Inspired By Krieger SG is classic Gibson SG Standard, including the ABR-1 Bridge and Maestro tailpiece tremolo system, nickel hardware, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with figured acrylic trapezoid inlays, and vintage tulip tuners.

The Robby Krieger 1967 SG Aged will only be produced in a very limited run of 50—signed and aged to look exactly like Krieger's original. The Robby Krieger 1967 SG Aged Standard is destined to become of the most sought-after SGs ever produced by Gibson Custom. Each guitar will come with its own Gibson Custom case and a certificate of authenticity signed personally by Krieger.

The Gibson SG Reissue Bass brings back Gibson's classic dual-pickup SG bass from the '70s! The reissue bass has the 30-1/2" short scale of the original, as well as its slim, fast neck. Mahogany body and neck. The Gibson SG Reissue Bass features a vintage-style TB neck humbucker pickup and a mini-humbucker at the bridge for wide tonal range. Gibson includes a hardshell case with the reissue SG Standard Bass.

3-Way Adjustable Bridge
Gibson's innovative 3-way adjustable bridge is the standard for simplicity and functionality. It provides you with the ability to adjust and fine-tune the height of the SG Standard Bass' strings in all directions—front, back, and side-to-side. This gives the bridge a floating feature, thus allowing the bass to be equipped with a variety of string gauges and multiple set-up options.

The SG Reissue bass's legendary resonance, tone, and sustain is the result of anchoring the bridge directly into the body at its 3 adjustable points, providing a firm seating for the strings and yielding a strong union between the strings and the body. Readily accessible screws make setting the intonation simple. To this day, Gibson's 3-way adjustable bridge remains an industry standard. It is the epitome of form and function in bass guitar bridge design.

Set-Neck Construction
Like all classic Gibson guitars, the necks on the SG Standard Basses are distinguished by one of the more traditional features that have always set them apart—a glued neck joint. Gluing the neck to the body of the guitar insures a "wood-to-wood" contact, no air space in the neck cavity, and maximum contact between the neck and body, allowing the neck and body to function as a single unit. The result? Better tone, better sustain, and no loose or misaligned necks.

Vintage-Style TB and TB Mini Humbuckers
The pickups on the early Gibson basses of the 1960s remained unchanged for many years, undergoing only minor cosmetic modifications from time to time, but staying true to the originals' sonic characteristics. The pickups in today's SG Standard Bass—the vintage-style TB Plus humbucker and TB mini humbucker—are wax-potted and capture and recreate the classic attributes of those early Gibson basses. The TB plus humbucker in the neck is a traditional hum-cancelling bass pickup with a full frequency, heavy-bottom sound, similar to pickups with a passive EQ. The EB mini humbucker in the bridge is traditionally smaller but packs a sweet punch with exceptional mid-range presence. This combination makes the SG Standard Bass a versatile instrument with a wide range of tonal possibilities.

20-Fret Rosewood Fingerboard
Rosewood has always graced the fingerboards of the world's finest stringed instruments, including many of today's Gibson guitars and basses. The fingerboard on the Gibson SG Standard Bass is
